AC electric motor speed control

hi
im new here and wondered if any one could help me , i trying to control the speed of an electric motor i have. it's a bodine make 220 v ac with a start capacitor. i purchassed a universal speed controller but it does not work ive been told this is because it as a start capcitor . i will attach some pics of the motor and specs in hope someone can help. im no electrician but can manage simple type jobs so a pre made controller would be good rather than a buld it yourself project if poss. thanks i advance .dave

Strangely, the term "universal" applies to a specific type of motor, basically it's a brush type motor that will run on AC or DC. A "universal speed controller" is designed for a "universal motor".

You have a capacitor start/run motor which is different.
