3D printer PSu giving arcing sound

Hi

Sometimes when I turn on my 3d printer I can hear arcing coming from the psu. THe thing is I think the psu works fine because I have been liviing life on the edge and ignoring this problem. I have printed a case for one of my projects and that took over an hour.

Could it just be a bad switch? It seems to only happen when i turn it on and it doesn't happen everytime.

Having to replace it will be a pain because prusa uses a psu thats smaller than the average psu hence if i buy one, it won't fit in the case so that the mains power terminals are safely covered up.

Does it have a plug-in power cable? Try reconnecting that if so & make sure it is genuinely seated fully. They can sometimes feel like they are seated when the contacts are on the tapered tips of the pins, then cause an intermittent connection.

If the arcing noise is very short and only happens as you flip the switch, the power switch could be the issue.
Worn contacts in the switch can cause momentary arcing, especially under high inrush current.
Remove the PSU cover (if safe to do so) and inspect the switch and terminals for black marks or charring.
