How to connect a 8-pin SPST reed relay?

Just to confirm that this isn't a solid state chip. When I apply a triggering voltage between pin 2 and pin 6, there is a very distinct clicking noise when the contact switch is activated.

How to connect a 8-pin SPST reed relay?

I need to use a 12-v SPST pcb reed relay on a circuit. I have one of these in mind: **broken link removed** I've been googling all over to look at the pin specs without success. Can someone please tell me which are the coil pins and which are the switch pins. There is a small indent on...

Please help with RCA plug polarities

Thanks for the clarifications. I'm trying to solder two female RCA plugs to my car radio audio output. I got confused when someone in an acoutics forum mentioned the centre prong or pin should be wired to negative instead of positive(signal) polarity of the audio output which I had in mind.

Please help with RCA plug polarities

What are the correct polarities of an audio RCA plug? I'm guessing the centre pin should be connected to positive while the outer contact is connected to negative. Would there be any adverse effect if I reverse the polarities of my RCA plugs?

Charging circuit for my camera external battery pack

Once again thanks for your suggestions everyone. I didn't realize a simple little diode would cause so much voltage drop until I started reading other posts in this forum.

Charging circuit for my camera external battery pack

Thanks for you input fellows! I think the 317 alone should suffice as most cars have a maximum output of about 14-15V. TillEulenspiegel, can you please let me know the exact values of R1 and R2. I can't read their values even after magnifying your diagram. Sebi, what sort and value of a...

Charging circuit for my camera external battery pack

Hi. I have succesfully adapted a battery pack from my RC model car to power my digital camera. The battery pack consists of 6 sub-C 1800mAH ni-cad cells connected in series. I intend to embark on a long trip crossing the Australian continent by car in a few months time. I intend to camp out...

    permanent markers

Make sure the virgin PCB is absolutely clean before you lay any marker ink on it. This would ensure the ink adherence to the PCB. My method is to wet sand the PCB lightly with a small piece of 800-grade sandpaper. I then use undiluted dishwashing detergent to remove any traces of finger grease...

Looking for Metric Hardware on the Web

It took me years to get used to mental conversion from imperial to metric. I didn't mind that as it's for the better in the long run (don't mean to start a debate on imperial v metric here). However, having gone to metric after all these years, I'm still greatly baffled why our building industry...

    Power supply

I built this 1.5V-24V 5A regulated power supply a few months ago: http://home.iprimus.com.au/peterwu/Electronics/PS24V5A/Power%20Supply1.html The voltage regulator is LM338. I suggest you use a bigger case for maximum cooling efficiency.

    Printing Circuit Boards?

That circuit looks rather complex for a veroboard project. You might end up getting frustrated by making mistakes or ruining your components and board. Veroboards are more suited for circuits with fewer components. It might cost you a little more but I think it's going to save you a lot of...

Should I junk a shorted electrolytic cap?

I was careless and hooked up a 2200uF 50V electrolytic cap by the wrong polarities. Naturally it went pop and burnt out a nearby narrow track. I tested the cap with a 24V feed and it seemed to hold the charge but I've replaced it with a new one. Should I junk the shorted cap? Meanwhile, a...

    Flux! - It's not a dirty word.

Thanks a lot for the tip spuffock. I did just what you suggested and got a small block of rosin from the local music instrument store. You didn't tell us that stuff is VERY sticky on the hands in powder form! Normal detergent cannot get rid of it easily. It smells wonderful though. Don't know if...
