Hi.

What does the LD pin does on the 4543 7-Segment Driver ic. In this datasheet the pin is number 1.

it seems that it is just an enable pin. you could connect this with Vdd if you dont want to disable this chip bui it is useful cause you cant turn the graph off unless you disable it...
 
LD drives the input latch.

When LD is 1 (5v), the inputs are decoded and the output displays whatever the input represents, and will change when the inputs change.

When LD is set to 0 (0v), the inputs are latched, the output will display the the last value of the inputs and will not change when the inputs change.
