unipolar stepper microstepping

i need help to solve the problem about: can unipolar stepper run use microstepping mode? i often find only bipolar stepper generally used.

Yes they can.

Say inputs is named input1 to input4 in adition to a common wire. If applying maximum current to input1, you can gradually increase current to input2 until maximum. When maximum current for input2 is achieved, current to input1 should decrease until zeero.
Now, the stepper should have moved one step with noumberous small steps between.
