The difference between AUSART and USART?

could anyone please tell me what the difference between an addressable USART and an ordinary USART?

An normal usart is meant for a connection between 2 devices. With an adressable usart you can hook up multiple devices on 1 bus. The device will only receive messages sent to its address.
