help regarding 8051 project

i am planning to do a miniproject "velocity detection using 8051".can any body help with ideas of how to proceed..

1)two led / photodiode couple placed at a known interval, object passes b/w these , -> determine time gap , measure speed .
2) use ultrasound ranging (like bats do/doppler sonar)
3) use laser ranging (LIDAR)

Hi,

I had tried out a similar project long back.
The velocity detection did not work for the first time.
The DEBOUNCE was the issue.

Make sure you do that properly.
