I'm currently using LM317 and LM337 as adjustable positive and negative regulators but they are only 1.5A rated. Anyone can point me to "bigger" replacement (6A preferable, 3A will do)
Just be sure to follow the output capacitor recommendations. Don't use ceramics or very low ESR electrolytics and tantalums for the output cap. A big electrolytic (>100uF) with .2 to .5 ohms ESR would probably be good.
