Actuators - Basic Intallation and bom needed

I am trying to fit a small actuator into a 2 x stud (1 1'2") vertically and then remotelly have the actuator raise any where from 1" to 3". Just a two position unit, one button up and one button down.

Where would I find these things and what all would I need to get to have it operating. And would it be possible to have multiple actuators working at the same time from the same remote.

I can invision a door lock concept but just can find what I need do to my lack of experiance with these types of mechanics.

You might check the junk yard for door lock actuators. They may be to big for you. Here are some nice small ones but they are expensive.
