Hi,

I just installed Virtual PC on my Mac and am looking for some nice spice software ( free or cheeeep ) for the PC.

I am a beginning hobbiest so industrial professional stuff is probably not needed or affordable.

I am running a command line version on the Mac side so I am a little familiar with the program.

Any suggestions? Advantages of this over that, limitations, etc...

Any info greatly appreciated.

I use Linear Technology's SwitcherCAD III, which is totally free, fully functional (not castrated like some demo or student versions), has a good schematic editor, and includes models of LTC's parts (and you can add your own or those from vendors).

Thanks, I just downloaded and installed the rascal, looks pretty good.

I have ordered the oracad (?) demo CD also.

I use Circuit Maker 2000 they have a free trial which doesn't run out but has a fairly large restriction on the number of components you can use.

The above page asserts that the code is limited to 30 days...

Sorry I sent you to the wrong page you can get a student version of Circuit Maker 6 from

That doesn't have a time limit. Circuit maker 6 is not quite as upto-date as 2000 but its still very good.
