Hi I was wondering what component has the following symbol:

-| []- it's like a capacitor symbol except one of the vertical lines is a rectangle?

It's a polarised capacitor. The rectangle is the positive terminal. Tantalum and electrolytic capacitors are usually polarised.

The diagram on there shows the symbol with a "+" sign. In circuit diagrams the "+" sign is rarely used.

Specifically, it's the Euro symbol for a polarized cap. Over here (N. America), we generally draw them like this:

Ah awesome thanks. I was wondering why the software package I was using didn't have it... looks like it does after all. Interestingly enough, the circuit I'm looking at is of an American amplifier... a European must have created the diagram of it.
