Tantalum and electrolytic capacitors are usually polarised. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrolytic_capacitor The diagram on there shows the symbol with a "+" sign. In circuit diagrams the "+" sign is rarely used.

A Atomic_Sheep Member Oct 9, 2011 #4 Ah awesome thanks. I was wondering why the software package I was using didn't have it... looks like it does after all. Interestingly enough, the circuit I'm looking at is of an American amplifier... a European must have created the diagram of it.
