If the FCC does their thing and allows mass market applications, someone is bound to make a chip which does 90% of all the actual work, with the remainder being to find a proper antenna. Right now I think the only markets that (can) use this are in some high end safety equipment. Being relatively new tech, no one has sunk the millions of $ required to see a chip from initial development to finished product.
