Webcam controlling using microcontroller

hello all,

i want to control webcam using microcontroller.
can any one tell me how can i make it possible??
i am confused about how to save the video captured by webcam.
i have tried to search on google but there i have found some software and i think that will make more complicated my project.
if there is any other option then please let me know.
