VU meter using LM3915

People,

I intend to build a VU meter with a lot of leds, about 30 leds. My question is if I can use 3 LM3915 in cascade because in the datasheet I see only 2 CIs in cascade.

You can Cascade as Many as you want.

The Biggest Problem is Ground Loops.

Make sure Each IC and its associated parts have a Common Point ground.

The LM3915 has a 30dB range. Three of them will have a 90dB range and if your quietest time is 40dB then the loudest indication is 130db which is extremely loud.
