Is there any way to make a digital voltmeter using EPROMS and 7 segment displays?

I was thinking of using a A/D converter, who's output would be the address of the EPROM. Then according to the address, the data saved in that address could drive the 7 segment display.

The problem is that I do not know how to be able to switch the max voltaje (like you do in a normal voltmeter). Also there would probably be only two digits, since most EPROMs word length is 8 bits.

Any ideas to make this useable?

Use ICL7107 DMM IC. It is specially designed for multimeters. It features on-chop ADC and 3 & 1/2 digit display driver.
