voltage sources in series and parallel!!!!

what happens when two voltage sources are connected in series and parallel...tell me for both ac and dc....that is two ac voltage in series and parallel...similarly for dc...
 
The parallel require knowledge of the internal impedances of each source. In series, DC is simply addition. With AC you need to know the relative phases and frequencies of each source. Sin A + Sin B type of relationship.
 
gkn, this sounds like a sort of homework question. You must be the one to find the answers, but we can point you in the right direction. Try doing a little research using google. You'll need to put some effort into this if you plan to get some answers out.

DC power supplies can be purchased such that they can operate in series and parallel with only one control for voltage and one for current limit. This is called a Master/slave configuration. DC sources in parallel usually do bad things. Think batteries in parallel. In series there still are consequences. Think laptop battery packs.

One of the most common AC sources is the transformer with with say two 120 V primaries and two secondaries? Why are they made that way?

Now if I had a 1 KW AM transmitter operating at 1400 kHz and another xmitter operating in the FM band at 100 kW what might happen? They are AC sources, right?
