Hello,

I need to convert a 9V Energiver battery to ~18V using simple circuitry. (ex. diodes, transisters, caps) and need it to be low cost. What is the best way that I can do this??

Purpose:

I am trying to make a Model Train run off a 9V battery (instead of the trains track power), and the speed that I am looking for requires 15-18 volts. This train is also going to be contoled remotely, so I will need the least noise possible.

Thanks

I doubt that you can run an electric train off an ICL7660. In fact, I wonder how long it will run off a 9v battery regardless of the type of converter you use. How much current will this train draw at 18v?
