You can use the USART. If you're lucky and your PC cooperates, some PC's will accept 0-5 volt logic on the serial line, otherwise you'll need a level converter to at least provide -5 and +5 volts for the RX and TX lines. RS232 electrical standards state +3 and -3 are required to consider the line low or high.
