ultrasonic distance meter

hi all.
ive been looking all over the internet for a circuit that will measure distance, and cant find a circuit.

can anyone help me with this.... i just need a circuit that will measure the distance of an object. kinda like a golf distance meter. same idea but i need to know how it works. thanks to all for reading and replying.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think that ultrasonic distanc measures work by sending out and ultrasound and measuring the time it takes for it to bounce off and come back

Look up RADAR, same principle but using sound instead of radio waves.
