Trying to create rotating device/minimum speed. Could use some advice!

Then you should be OK. If you would picture a long skinny board, the board would only balance when horizontal or vertical. e.g. There would be no tendency to rotate. If you had a circle of equally distributed mass, it would stay in any position.

A square may or may not rotate on it's own, but I think not. All of this conjecture says the object is supported in the center. The force to accelerate the object would also have to be counted, but at a such a low RPM it's probably negligible.

A belt drive, like a turntable might also be possible and it could be cut out of wood. That would surely make it much slower.
