Traffic light circuit question

I have always heard that firetrucks and all have a light that blinks at a certain wavelength and makes a red light turn green

is there such a setup?

anything...not even in the light category

I think what your talking about is a MIRT a mobile infrared transmitter. Thats what they have around here.
