For a single phase to earth fault, what is the effect on the fault current magnitude of a grounding impedance Zn connected between the generator star point and ground?

well you would have a high resistance ground and a fault would drop voltage across Zn... and limit the current flow.. i think..not sure why you would want this. Have been to places where the ground is high and the neutral is floated which makes a voltage diff of about 15 vac this is normal for this site. Other places their is no ground at all or neutral the claim is saftey, you can hold any live circuit up to 480 volts without a shock because you floating,,no ground . I guess if neutral and ground are the same before the Zn then you would not see a diff only between the neut/ground and earth ground,, which it too will change in value over time
