The Pic16f628a little hot when is work?

Dear Everyone,

I'm using pic16f628a to generate freq at portb (38khz,19khz,114khz,57khz,76Khz) for encoder stereo from broadcast warehouse (digilog encoder). It's working great.

The crystal is 4.864Mhz, i'm using bcf and bsf command and looping forever in the routine.

The problem is my pic a little hot when is work, is it normal?

Any help will be great

What are you feeding?, PIC's don't normally run warm - unless you are drawing substantial current from it

I feed with 5v via regulator 7805, the old firmware using PIC16CE623 with no any warm on it. But when i'm using PIC16f628a and my own firmware i get little warm on it.

Sorry, what are you feeding from the PIC, are you feeding any LED's or anything?, also what are you doing with unused pins?.

yes, the pic driving high speed analog switch (DG201HS) on portb with frequency 38Khz (portb3, portb0), and 114Khz (portb1, portb2).

You have four pins of port A grounded, and these set as inputs?, if they are set as outputs that could be the reason. Likewise you have two more port A pins connected to Vdd - are this allocated as I/O pins, and if so, are they set as outputs. Connecting outputs to either Vdd or Vss is likely to make the chip get hot, and could kill it.

Hi Nigel, I was change the code (portA as input) like you said and i test.
Looks like my pic not angry again , the pic was cool. I'm very happy, finnaly my encoder working great same as with original firmware.
