If I have a bad capacitor, Dubilier .25mf 600v, can I replace it with an orange dip with the same value?

The application is an old piece of automotive test equipment with point/point wiring.

Many thanks,

Joe

It depends on what cap you need; what kind of cap is the "bad cap"? Is it electrolytic, tantalum, ceramic, or something else? You can search google images and type in the various caps and note their appearance. I doubt your orange dip can withstand 600V, you can't just substitute any cap.
