Stars for your Threads

I see some stars giving to some threads (eg:thread rating 5 votes,avg 5.000) What does it means? If we have some more star threads do we get some prizes??

Is it giving due to the quality of the thread or ....else?

I saw another guy posted a thread few months ago regarding rank under name.I read it, its all about ranking.

I dunno that it matters much? It's just a 'gimmick' of the forum software.

At the top is a rating button. I just clicked it and awarded this thread 5 stars.

Oh I see ...... I didn't notice earlier......There is a rating button.
