Hi all!
I want to build a sound intensity meter that will output the level of sound intensity onto a column of LEDs that will rise or fall dpending on the intensity. I was wondering if it can be done without any complicated pcbs. I'm not sure where to start though.

It's quite a simple thing to do, an LM3915 will drive 10 LED's, and you can stack them for more LED's - have a look at **broken link removed**. Then you just need to amplify the audio signal to the correct level and rectify it - it's a really common application, there are lots of examples on the net, try **broken link removed** for one example.
