Solder Mask Alignment

What is solder mask alignment?

Odd question, it pretty much answers itself. There generally has to be a registration mark or some physical means of aligning a PCB during manufacture that will allow the solder mask to be aligned properly so that the solder protection compound (the green stuff on a typical PCB card) will be masked off of the points that require soldering.
