looks just when i search a datasheet excidently i found a diot datasheet looks almost like your smd diot. name is this : search at google : BYM10-50 thru BYM10-1000
Thanks folks. @ Vedo35 it is one of these https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=697 with failed backlight. Traced to a driver transistor - Don't do a great deal of surface mount as I am more vintage and I have never seen diodes like these before!
Such a nice remote but a little bit big and heavy for casual use. Can't believe it is 20 years old!!!
