I acquired an old Triplett 4750 DVM for a few dollars. It seems to be in good working order except for the LCD display. It is missing a few segments. I don't want invest a lot of money in this thing so I would like to know if this fault is repairable, or, where can I find an inexpensive working display?

Possibly.
Under the lcd connectiong it to the pcb is usually a liquorice allsort type connector made from rubber, actually stacks of insulators and conductors, remove said item clean it and the display and the pcb where they all meet, be carefull, this might fix the issue, has for me a couple of times.
Lcd's do eventually wear out, but its the whole display not a few segments.
