seven segment display keypad controlled

Guys,

I need help...is there any link that you can give me, or diagrams you have for a circuit that can display numeric characters (seven segment) controlled by a keypad? ..a simple circuit that is... (just by pushing numeric characters on a keypad and displaying it out by a seven segment led display).

By far the easiest way is to use a micro-controller - my tutorials show how to use a keypad and an LCD text display.

in my opinion, if the amount of characters that you want to display is small, then you can use logic gates by using the kanaugh map to design. but if there are too many to display, as Nigel said, its better to use a micro controller. makes things simpler.... right?
