replacement (LB1409)

hi i am building a vu meter it uses LB1409 and that ic isn't available here in india so is there any replacement ic???can i use lm3915??

if any one has other vu meter circuit with pcb design can u plz share here ....

It looks like both ICs do essentially the same thing but they couldn't be directly swapped out because the pin assignments and packages are not the same. Did you also know you can make a VU meter just by using voltage dividers and a bunch of comparators? Like this:
