The Raspberry Pi Zero, introduced mid 2015, is now more freely available ($5US and £4UK).

It looks like a useful tiny single board computer (SBC) and, with its low price and small size, it is encroaching on PIC and Arduino (AVR) territory, although the power consumption at 5V, 150mA is a bit high.
Has anyone had any experience with the Pi Zero?
Also, rather than communicate to the Zero with a monitor (HDMI), keyboard (USB), and mouse (USB), I would like to communicate with the Zero via a single USB cable (rather than a console cable) to a Windows PC.
I know there are tutorials on the net for doing this, but they look a bit complicated and error prone.
