Why: It is Sunday and I did not feel like doing anything useful.

The HexBug is an interesting little toy that sells for $10US. It has two feelers in front and a mic to pickup sound. Both the feelers and mic can cause it to change direction.

I wanted to take a closer look at the HexBug so I took the top off. You can read the numbers on a few of the parts.

Made me think of Krumlink....

EDIT: The above link has video of it in action.

Krumlink...

I just order a similar toy called NSECT for around $25 (including shipping and tax). Saw these things before, but around $100, so jumped on it. The are radio controlled 6 legged walkers, with a gun to shoot stuff. Buying it to take a part, figure it would be simple enough to slip in a microcontroller and a couple of sensors... Always wanted a walking robot, but more interested in something more spider-like.

You could build a 8 motor 4 leg design, or if you want spider leg you would be looking for 16 motor and 8 legs. I would like to see anybody try that with Nv and Nu Neurons

My walking robots are waiting to be stuffed.
