Questions about a chip for a PA

I found this while strolling through diyaudio forums and wondered if it could be used as a power amp for a guitar/bass.  If I read correctly, it would give 500wRMS!

Possibly so, the supply rails of +/175V should allow an output of around 450W-500W, depending on losses.

However, presumably it's not cheap?.

Looks like I won't be building a huge bass head for my brother (he found a good deal on an actual bass head) so the only amp I'll be building is my stereo lm3886 2 x 50 guitar head for me. Thats plenty of power for a guitar rig.

As long as you don't try to compete with a guitarist using a valve/tube amp :lol:

If I ever need more power, I can always make a bigger lm3886 based rig, or even easier, grab a lm4780 kit and have 2 x 100w @ 4ohm, or 2 x 80w @ 8 ohm. But like I said, I'm not worried about it. Right now when I jam with people I'm using my Dean Markley K-20X, its a 15 watter!
