Question about the operation of photodiode

Greeting,

In order to get photo current, is it need to apply reverse bias to the photodiode. Or it can use only the internal potential barrier to swept the EHPs

hi,
There are two basic modes of operation for a PD, Photo voltaic or Photo conductive
If you Google: Photodiode operation you will get lots of data.
