Well building up a power regulator with Capacitors and a 7905 Voltage regulator should make a decent power supply for the Picaxe.
A 7905 is a negative voltage regulator. You probably need a positive voltage regulator unless your car is extremely old and has a positive ground (British?).

Happy reading. We are here if you need help. I have a PICAXE, but haven't played with it yet.

Heh from what thought was going to be a "simple" circuit has now become slightly complex! I do understand the need to protect the circuit, but DANG! :wideyed: But I do understand how noisy and such an automotive electrical system can get.
