Hi, im looking for a designer of a 12vdc pwm controller, it is going to be used on heated clothing..so must be splash/waterproof and not get to hot!! I have looked at and contacted various makers in the usa but non will agree to export..namely "zane controlls".
Does any one have any ideas how to build one with a nice small case or any company that will supply one?
A digital one would also be suitable!
It must be able to handle.. 13.5 volt dc
55 watts max
splashproof/waterproof
if any one builds these/sells these..please get in touch!
Thank you in advance craig

Hi,

There are loads of electronics companies, large and small who will design and produce circuits / complete products to customers specifications.

Why would no one do this for you ?

thanks for your response, not sure they just never reply or say they cant ship to the uk!
if you can recommend any company that would be great. Im out of my comfort zone with electronics..so its frustrating not having the knowledge what to ask for! thanks

Hi,

Unless you are after something using very specialised techniques in plastics or electronics etc I really fail to see why you could not get it prototyped or small batch produced in the UK.
There after large quantities are for the Far East manufacturers.

I've been out of the manufacturing side of small circuit electronics for too long to recommend anyone, perhaps other members can - ideally a local firm would be better for you, if you let us know which city you are near; personal contact is always better on projects like this.

Alternatively, go online / yellow pages or try your local chamber of commerce or the various government business links etc - they are supposed to help you find the right contact.

A PWM motor controller would probably work.

What's your budget?

How good are you at electronics?

If I wanted something like this, I would just build my own.

Hi, im looking to pay about £27 per control thats a made price!
I have no electronic skills, so cant build one!
I think i will need about 100-300 units in the first year many thanks

Sorry, £27 sounds too low for design plus manufacture of a custom piece of ruggedised electronic equipment for a small production run.

It's more that the $14 I saw offered for a custom design. Party like it's 1899

Now for 100,000,000 Zimbabwe dollars... wait a minute that's only 33 cents

Looks like good value for money.

It's probably made in China which makes it cheap.

What is this fascination with PWM for heat control?
Least guy that insisted his had to be PWM despaired so we have to assume it newer worked.
If a thermostat is good enough for an electric blanket then it should be good enough for just abut any other piece of clothing.
I have to assume you have done some testing before you stipulated that had to be PWM?

A thermostat is low speed PWM anyway.

Perhaps people like PWM because it sounds 1337.
