Programing Micro controller

I have built a engraving machine that has 3 stepper motors one x one y and the other c ( this is the vertical motor)
I have Velleman Modules VM 111 Pic Programmer and Experimentation Bord.
I have no Idea where to start .
What I want to do is make the stepper motors to travel the X Y And C axis and the C motor to go up and down.
Can you help me with this project

Then down the track I want to place a pc board layout onto my PC and engrave the circuit into the board.
I need help with the programing .
EG how to tell the motor to run on the x and y and C axis.
