This is a short pilot aptitude test

Basically, there are logic and math questions, not too difficult.
But, there is one that I don't know the logic of the answer.
Question is:

Which one would you choose and why?

5, because the rest have the same number of sides as items - so 5 pentagons, 4 diamonds etc.

Could be two answers: #1, since it's the only one that has one object not in formation. Numbers 2 through 5 all have objects that are arranged symmetrically. Or it could be #3, since it's the only one whose objects don't point in a northernly direction.

Number 5 is right (I got 70 out of the 80 required only because the by phone rang during the last couple) - and reason for the question - to test deductive reasoning ability?

Nigels post#2 gives the correct reason why.
There's a currently running quiz show in the UK, called "The 1% Club", and essentially all the questions are IQ type questions. I've been watching it, so I'm probably a bit better prepared

I never joined MENSA, as I had no interest in it, but my younger brother did.
