Hi.

WRT quadrature encoders is it better to stick them where they are on an interruptable line or does it matter? I was just going to dangle a pair off RD/PSP4,5 and 6,7... any reason to move them to RB4-7 for the interrupt-on-change capability, or is this just programmer's preference?

I was thinking that to include every possible menu and sub-menu interface choice in the ISR could be more memory than it's worth. But I'm a clueless newbie.

Thanks.

I usually put them on an input capture pin or a counter pin. It gives you the flexibility of using the interrupts if you want them (since most parts can generate an interrupt on change of the input capture pin) or you can just use the counter/timer. If i am already using the counters for something else, then i evaluate what the best organization of my system is likely to be.
