i already have the PICDEM board and an ICD 2 so i guess i might as well go with PIC then...but wht boards can you use PICs with to get internet and bluetooth capability...
The easiest place to look is sparkfun.com but there are many people making similar boards you can find on ebay.
the ICD2 can also function as a logic analyser and TTL level serial tool right???is there a diff between PICkit2 and ICD2?is ICD2 better?
The ICD2 can only program and debug. So far only the picKit2 has the logic analyzer and USB to TTL serial functions. An ICD2 is a good tool. They now have ICD3's and picKit3's but the picKit2 lacks the additional tools at this point.
i thought PICs use the MPLAB IDE??is the language different to AVR compared to PIC??is there a big difference?is there any site where i can see the pros and cons?
The IDE (Integrated Development Enviorment) is the programming environment and not the language used to program. You can use MPLAB in conjunction with many different languages/compilers/assemblers.
MPLAB X is now in beta testing and I expect that we will see it released in six months or a year. It is a more modern IDE much like what you see in MS Visual Studio.
The pros for AVR is that you have one free compiler that everyone seems to use.
demo versions and inexpensive compilers wih AVR?
