PIC compatibility

I've got a project requiring a PIC16F84 but I don't seem to have one at the moment. I've looked at the pinout of the PIC16F88 and they seem to be compatible pinwise. Does anyone know if the code is compatible? I've got some HEX code that was compiled for a the 16F84A and I'm wondering if I could burn it to the 88.

Nope you'd have to modify the source first. The 16F628A and 16F88 can both replace the 16F84A.

You need to do some minor changes in the code specially the GP RAM locations (starts from 20h) & some in config word.
