New Forum: Automotive Electronics

Maybe make it a bit less specific to include boats, motorcycles and airplanes. It may even bring a few converts into the electronic fold.

Would it be a better fit as a sub forum of project ideas? I am thinking as a sub forum it could survive with less traffic.

Hi 3v0,

Yes, I agree and changed it from Car Electronics to Automotive Electronics and specified in the description "For discussion about electronics within cars, trucks, motorbikes, caravans, boats, airplanes, etc". And it is placed as a sub forum for General Electronics Chat.

Regards,
EM

Perhaps 'Vehicle Electronics' would be a more general title to attract more posts?

Edit: And while we're on the subject of new forums (fora??), there are many posts about battery charging. A (sub-)forum for that perhaps?

"automotive electronics" is still wrong. What about Kinarfi that's building a cruse control for an ATV?

What about discussions about lawnmower ignition systems?

I might call it: "Vehicle and small engine" or "Automotive and small engine"

I think it should attract motorcycles, cars, trucks, snow blowers, ATV's, lawn mowers etc.

Automotive Electronics is too restrictive.

I don't think "Automotive Electronics" is too restrictive. People are smarter than that. Most people will understand it's for any of those sorts of things, and they'll post their questions there anyway. I think it's fine just the way it is.

Post disappeared?
I posted in this thread yesterday or the day before and now i dont see it here.

Also, it would be nice to see the automotive section in the main listing rather than under another main heading like general.

MrAl, then everything would have to have a seperate listing in the main forum. I don't see any reason why the current high voltage and automotive forums shouldn't be listed as a sub forum of general. Unless you can come up with a nice perfectly sensible scheme that fits every electronics area neatly into known types.
