Need Help using Proteus7.2

Hi this is Srinidhi. I am using Proteus for simulating an ongoing academic project. I am new to this software. I have a problem locating VCC and GND pin in an IC. I need to use these pins, but they r hidden. How can i unhide or use them when they are hidden?

let them hidden and as example if you want to use vss you can get dc voltage source with any value do you want and also this for gnd

Thanx for the reply... Actually the prob is i have make to make an electrical connection to PIN 10 which is VCC in this case, which is hidden by default. And i wanna know how to unhide tat pin or make connection wen it is hidden.

Use the terminal mode button and add a power pin to your schematic. You make you power connections to these power pins. Same thing with grounds etc.

VCC of the IC is internally connected to the power pin but hidden. If you want to connect a discrete component such as a resistor to VDD or VSS just add the appropriate power pin. See pic.

Hi Bryan, I dint get u.....I mean I dint get how u know which is the appropriate pin for VSS(In this case pin12,31). To make my doubt more clear for u i have attached a snap, in which i have to connect 5v supply to vcc pin of MC(In my case PIN 20).

Hi Srinidhi, i guess you are not familiar with proteus enviroment. In Proteus the power pins of many ICs are hidden or you can take them as 'built in'. They are not shown so as to ease circuit drawing. For some ICs like the one you are using there are Vss and Vcc pins.Take the power pins to be connected internally.

As above, you do not need to connect the pins of the IC to VDD/VSS it is done for you already but hidden. You will see when you move to the next step and use Ares the PCB layout manager.

If you want you can right click the IC and select Packaging tool. From there you can see which pins are hidden and what connections they make. Believe you can edit them if you insist on showing the VDD and VSS pins.

With the power pins hidden, how do you attach bypass caps to them? Or do you just assume and only place them on the PCB?

I do have proteus but have not installed ARES but i think this is what you need to do.Make a wires say for giving supply to the IC, put the capacitor in between them and label both the nets.Then double click on the IC,you will see a Hidden Pins and type the nets name to which each pin is to be connected.

Not sure it is optimal yet, but here is how I figured out how to handle them.

At the bottom of my sheet, I just lay out all the caps I need from VDD to GND. You can then assign the GROUP= variable to them and give the part name they should be associated with. When you go to layout the board, the auto-placer is supposed to place all grouped components next to each other.

It's my first project with Proteus, so I'm sure there are better ways. Just need to keep working with it.

The group technique is good as long as it satisfies you.The connectivity thing that i was telling you about has been shown in teh attached file.Try to generate an ARES file of this model.I expect the power pins to be connected to Mysupply and MyGround.

I know this is an outdated thread. I also went through this thread when i was having this problem. Since i have found the simple solution i hope this will be helpful to someone in the future.
All you have to do is add a "power terminal" just like adding a ground terminal(mark). (right click add- terminal-->power)Then double click on the pic or the IC, then go to hidden pin button. There in Vss you can put GND and in the Vcc space, put "POWER". Then go to configure menu-->power rails. Then add POWER to the Vcc group. If you didn't do this part when the schematic is being compiled, it will show an error. Then go back to power rails and add POWER to Vcc group.
