need help about voice recognition

I have a plan of handfree car kit,I wanna add the voice recognition function in it ,but I'm brand new about this , any ideas?

For a beginner, I suggest the kit by Sensory, their voice direct II kit.

It's $60-70 US, which is a bit of cash, but it is a good starting kit. There are cheeper chips available.

This kit contains not only the voice recognition chip, but also supporting hardware that will make things easier when working on your project.
