Which type of capacitors would be most suitable to act as bypass capacitors to filter noise across a circuit?

Your question is far too vague to give any meaningful reply, try giving exact details of your problem!.
 
If you're working with RF (1MHz and higher), disc ceramic (or ceramic in general) caps are best. At higher frequencies, lead inductance and internal inductance of other types renders them nearly useless.
