hello,

i want to monitor all 12 output pins of 16F84A by my computer as used in a circuit. i want to know at any time which pin goes high. how do I do that? how do i connect the pins to my computer? what software should i used?

i'll appreciate any suggestion, opinion that you'll give me regarding this.

to be brief, you want to use the parallel port if you hope to directly interface to a 5V logic circuit. I do not know what software exists for this purpose. However, what you are describing is precisely what a logic analyzer is designed to do.

I simply use LEDs connected in series with a current limiting resistor. However, you will need to slow down the time, or the LEDs wont have enough time to react.
