line-following sensors

can anybody help me on what are the best sencers to use for a line tracing robot i'm developing. The sensing part is going to be run off a 9v pp3 battery. I'v searched all over the internet and in books but don't know which to use. thanks

There is plenty on info about following lines out there.... here is one I like because of its ease. Sandwich, an Easy to Build Robot That Follows Lines

I think a red led can be better than an IR led on linefollowing robots. I built a robot used with red led, it worked good.

You may find an old topic "mobile robot" in this forum, we did discuss much about line following a years ago.
