For the transformer would you use something like **broken link removed** Or some other type?
You would not use a transformer. That chip is a buck regulator that drives a high voltage NFET and runs right off the rectified and filtered line, but I would feed in the line voltage and end up with a PFC LED driver- then all you need is high frequency filtering.
 
Yikes! my sorry eyeballs were looking at the wrong appnote. See the benefit now that its only a bridge + parts, ....very nice.
