LED light fitting with control

I came across this video:


And I fancy attempting to make my own version of it. So I have some plan already as to how to control it....but.... The LEDs in a some sort of tubes here, has anyone seen these on the market? I have seen LED tubes but with simple 2 wire connection so all LEDs light at once whereas these obviously have a more complex wiring setup to allow individual LEDs to be powered. I can envisage how I would make something like this but I wonder if the parts already exist as I cannot find anything out there...

I think i've (partly) answered my own question.....addressable LED strips, but I can only find ribbon and these do appear to be in tubes, which obviously I could mount them into tubes but does a tube based addressable led exist? I can't find any....

What are the chances of these being adaptable to the project?

Is it a buy it and see?

The individual tubes are probably wired together, but you could use a little pic micro to control each tube, you can superimpose data on power and use the orginal 2 wires too.

The details for the LED tubes say nothing about motion so I think each tube simply has a number of LEDs connected together at a different height from other tubes.

The GIF images further down the listing suggest that they are multiple colours within each tube and they appear to be controlled in some way to light individual LEDs....i'm thinking I should just take the plunge and buy a set to butcher...... My thoughts exactly dr pepper, a pic or arduino project it is!

On further inspection it does say that every individual led is controlled, I think however you'll probably need to remove the control chip to get what you need.
You could use something like a 4094 or a 74hc595 to serially control leds from one micro.
